4 Massachusetts businesses land on list of top 100 local businesses in America

BOSTON — Four Massachusetts-based businesses have been named in a new list of the top 100 local businesses in America.

To celebrate National Small Business Month and the pillars of Main Streets across the country, Yelp on Wednesday revealed its “Top 100 Local Businesses in the United States” list for 2024.

“This year’s list spotlights both longtime neighborhood mainstays, alongside newer, fusion concepts,” Yelp said. “Many of our top businesses have found success by embracing a particular niche.”

The Massachusetts businesses featured on Yelp’s list include:

• Melrose Oriental Rug Co - Melrose (Home Decor Industry)
• Dao Tailor Alteration & Custom Design – Waltham (Fashion Industry)
• The Outer Limits  – Waltham (Bookstore Industry)
• WAR Automotive Technology – Malden (Auto Industry)

“These locally-loved spots are among Yelpers’ favorite small businesses in the country, selected for their ability to shape communities’ identities, fuel economies, and–most importantly–foster a sense of belonging among residents,” Yelp wrote.

To create this list, Yelp says it identified independently owned and operated businesses in relevant categories including the total volume and ratings of reviews.

All the businesses on the list have a maximum of three locations and were marked open on Yelp as of March 6, 2024.
