Convicted child rapist indicted for lewd charges while in custody

WOBURN, Mass. — Convicted child rapist Wayne Chapman has been indicted on charges stemming from incidents that allegedly happened recently at MCI Shirley.

Chapman, 70, has been held in custody for nearly a decade since he completed his prison sentence for raping a child.

He was recently granted a release, but opponents have fought to keep him in custody since it was announced that he was no longer considered sexually dangerous and was eligible to be released.

Chapman has now been indicted on charges of open and gross lewdness and lew, wanton and lascivious acts in connection with incidents alleged to have happened June 3 and 4 at MCI Shirley.
