FALMOUTH, Mass. — A Falmouth cab driver is recovering after he was run over Monday morning.
Falmouth Police say around 6 a.m. Monday, taxi cab driver James Sawyer stopped on Sippewissett Road to check a pickup address. After he got out of the cab, it started to roll away because he left it in reverse. When he tried to stop the cab, he slipped and his torso got trapped under the car with his legs sticking out into the southbound lane.
The 80-year-old called another cab driver for help. While he was waiting, a vehicle drove over his legs.

"It was dark, he's going by another vehicle that stopped in the road. Especially with all the debris that's been on the road from the last couple of storms, he may not have even known he drove over the gentleman's legs," said Falmouth Police Chief Ed Dunne.
That car is described as a dark-colored 2000-2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup with possible front end damage.
The driver was taken to Falmouth Hospital before being flown to Boston Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information should call Falmouth Police at (774)255-4527.
