Naked man broke-in, assaulted dog and threw glass at police, NH woman says

CONCORD, N.H. — A man broke into a woman's apartment, beat her daughter's dog and then threw glass shards at officers, a New Hampshire woman told Boston 25 News Thursday.

Irakoze Ildephonse, 28, was arrested Wednesday after a violent confrontation with officers, according to police.

Officers say police showed up at an apartment complex on Cherry Street shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a burglary in progress.

Ildephonse has been charged with breach of bail conditions, cruelty to animals, burglary, indecent exposure and lewdness, simple assault, reckless conduct and criminal mischief.

Brenda Rines, the woman living in the apartment, told Boston 25 News that she and her 19-year-old daughter were inside their Cherry Street apartment when Ildephonse somehow got onto their balcony and started banging on the glass door.

"He had to scale up the side of it because obviously it's on the second floor and I don't know how he did that," said Rines. "Apparently earlier in the week he had scaled up to the 3rd floor."

The man stripped naked before breaking in and beating her daughter's dog. When police showed up, she said he started throwing shards of glass at them.

He was eventually tasered, she told Boston 25.

"We just needed to get out of there," said Rines. "Who knows what he would have done. He fought police, he fought a dog."

Rines and her daughter managed to escape but left their two dogs behind, including a golden retreiver named Wendell. Rines said the dog will be okay.

Ildephonse has been held on $15,000 cash bail.
